All BOSCA staff members have an obligation to fulfil the requirements of their regulatory body the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) to continue their professional development. Staff can choose between Playwork offered through the SVQ route or alternatively Child Care and Learning through NC and HNC. Senior staff must have an SVQ Level 3 award or an HNC as a minimum and the manager must hold a BA degree. Some BOSCA staff are working towards a nursing or teaching degree that allows them to register with the SSSC. BOSCA is a member of the local childcare forum (Glasgow West Central) where Beverly sits on the board. The forum has established a rolling training programme that gives our staff regular access to courses in Food Hygiene, First Aid, Infection Control, Health and Safety and Child Protection. These are renewable every three years. Staff also have the opportunity , either through the forum or initiated by us, to do courses in Outdoor play, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Quality Assurance, Arts and Crafts, Challenging Behaviour and many more. All BOSCA staff make the most of opportunities offered to further their personal professional development and for the benefit of all service users.
